5 Healthy Drinks Babies Would Love

During their growth, babies need water not only for hydration, but to help develop their kidneys. Pediatricians note that babies' kidneys need more water to move waste through their bodies. This is especially true when their diet begins to incorporate solid foods instead of just drinking milk and/or formula. To keep your baby properly hydrated after six months, consider adding some of these drinks to their diet.
Here are 5 drinks babies would love.
- Water is one of the best things you can give your baby. It quenches thirst, provides for hydration, and it doesn't add any unnecessary sugars to their body. No matter if you use tap, bottled, or spring water, it is best to boil the water before serving it to your baby. Use boiled water in your ice cubes, too, if you're chilling the water before serving it to your baby.
- Apple juice is a healthy drink for babies, although you don't want to serve them a lot of it. Too much can add to tooth decay or possibly add too much acid into their system. (That's why you should avoid the citrus juices.) However, apple juice is high in natural sugar and easy for a baby to digest. Don't serve the juice full strength, though. Rather do a one part juice to three parts water dilution.
- Milk is full of vitamins, iron and other nutrients. Keep it simple and watch for any allergic reactions. Until babies are older-past nine months-avoid giving them anything other than cow's milk, like sheep, goat, or soy milk.
- Green smoothies are a nutritional health rage for babies and infants. Combine various fruits, vegetables, and waters into a yummy smoothie that is easily and quickly absorbed into baby's system. Use spinach, kale, lettuce, and mix with fruits like apples, bananas, or peaches for a drink that will have your baby banging his/her sippy cup for more.
- Yogurt smoothies are another drink that will go over well with your baby. Combine carrots, apples, non-fat yogurt, and water in a blender for a vitamin-filled drink.
Avoid giving your baby more than one drink or juice other than formula per day. You'll want to serve any additional water or drink in a sippy cup instead of a bottle. Keep that for formula. Also, pediatricians and nutritionists recommend against giving your baby juice before going to bed. Although babies drink mostly formula, an occasional drink from the above list will be a healthy and well enjoyed treat for your baby.

Easy Healthy Drinks

Consumers are looking for healthy drinks that provide essential nutrients; and do not cost hundreds of dollars every month. More and more products have emerged on the market to fill this consumer demand for healthy drinks, but unfortunately the prices are often prohibitive especially for families. Fortunately, there are some excellent choices for natural health drinks that do not empty the wallet every month.
Three Easy Natural Health Drinks:
1. Filtered Water - Instead of drinking water from plastic bottles, which are toxic for you and the environment, or tap water that may contain harmful contaminants, buy a quality carbon based filter and drink the recommended 8 glasses every day.
You can enhance the flavor by adding crushed mint leaves or slices of oranges and lemons.
2. Drink tea instead of coffee or canned drinks. Black, oolong, white or green tea is rich in anti-oxidants. Herb teas are another good alternative. Experts say that teas are a good choice because they do not contain phosphoric acid (like bubbly drinks do) Phosphoric acid is a major cause of diminishing bone mass. Teas make soothing hot or cold beverages.
3. Freshly extracted vegetable and fruit juices. There is no denying the effectiveness of vegetable and fruits in boosting your overall health. Purchase a quality mid-priced juice machine and you will be able to create an endless variety of nutritious drinks for your family.
By making and drinking your own juice you are increasing your raw, uncooked food. The juice is full of living enzymes, packed with nutrition, and life force energy.
It is impossible to get the amount of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes that you need by simply eating the raw fruits and vegetables. Juicing is the best way to even come close to getting enough vitamins, minerals, and enzymes from a natural source.
All fruits and vegetables have vital roles to play in contributing to good health, but a few stand out. Carrot juice and celery juice will quickly become part of your favourite daily routine, as will apple juice. Apple juice is a wonderfully versatile juice that bridges the gap between fruits and vegetables.
Fresh raw apple juice is a completely different product from store bought apple juice. The commercial apple juice has been heated to a very high temperature that has effectively killed all the enzymes, vitamins, and minerals.
Melon juices such as cantaloupe, honeydew, and watermelon, as well as, pineapple juice are especially healthful and effortless to prepare. Finally citrus juice is a terrific source of vitamin C, a very important vitamin your body does not store and therefore must replenish every day.

Healthy Drinks for Weight Loss

If you really want to lose weight, you need to have perseverance and patience because it is not a quick process. Having a healthy lifestyle is also a must. It is essential to keep your weight loss diet on track with healthy foods. However, just as there are several wholesome foods that will help you shed extra pounds, there are also a variety of drinks that will help you achieve all your weight loss goals.
Listed below are some of the healthy drinks that you may incorporate into your weight loss diet.
1. Green tea. Green tea is a great and healthy substitute for calorie loaded soda drinks and lattes. Integrating this drink into your diet will help you lose weight easily. It contains photochemicals that act as stimulants to boost your metabolism and decrease your appetite. Therefore helping your body burn large number of calories and excess fats. Try to drink three to five cups of green tea a day without adding sugar to free it from calories.
2. Milk. Consuming low fat or skim milk will help you drop extra pounds since it contains calcium that helps your body in breaking down fats into fat cells. Thus, preventing fats to accumulate into your body which causes embarrassing flab. More so, it is also good for your body since it is a highly nutritious drink.
3. Cold water. Water is actually the cheapest drink that will help you in your weight loss endeavor. It contains zero calories and also a good appetite suppressant making you fuller for longer time. Drinking plenty of cold water will help you boost your metabolism. This will eventually help your body burn more calories. That's why it is recommended to drink eight to ten glasses of cold water a day.
4. Vegetable juice. Try to drink vegetable drinks as often as you can since it helps you speed up your weight loss process. These drinks contain lots of nutrients essential for your body and contain fewer calories than any other drink. Moreover, they are also rich in dietary fiber which helps you lose weight. The fibers from these drinks helps you feel fuller for longer periods of time. Thus, preventing you to overeat unhealthy foods.
5. Greek Yogurt
One of its beneficial properties is its very low Lactose content. Most people who are Lactose intolerant can still eat Greek yogurt because when regular yogurt is strained to make the thick, creamy Greek-style yogurt, the Lactose runs out with the whey. It was just extra sugar and Greek yogurt tastes more mild, less tart because of the lack of whey. Another benefit of Greek yogurt over regular is its higher protein level. The protein doesn't leave the yogurt while the whey is being strained off, often leaving up to double the protein per serving!

Foods to Avoid to Reduce Heart Disease

There are certain foods we should avoid in different foods group which may destroy our health and our heart. By eliminating certain foods from your diet, including others in the right amounts, you can achieve at least a 50 per cent protection against heart attack.

Soups - The high in fat content soup is creamed soups. The commercially prepared ones are particularly fat-heavy, and since the fat cannot be readily removed from them, they should not be used. It is always a good idea to read the label carefully on any packaged product from which soup is being made. The law pertaining to the labelling of foods requires a in the product, so undesirable sources of fat can be avoided.

Meats - Meats are basic ingredients in the low-fat diet, since their protein content is most desirable for energy and palatability. Among meats pork, bacon, and ham are highest in fat and cholesterol content. They should not be eaten on the low-fat diet other than occasionally. So are the glandular organs such as sweetbreads, brains, kidneys, caviar, fish roe, and giblets, except liver.

Seafood - Certain seafood are best avoided. These are: bass, bluefish, butterfish, deviled crab, eel, scalloped or fried oysters.

Poultry - Because duck and goose have a layer of fat just beneath their skin, so they are always considered a fatty meat which should be avoided.
If you want to eat meat, choose lean meat and poultry without skin. Sirloin, chuck, round and loin beef cuts have less fat than "prime" grade beef. Choose white meat, and remove all visible fat from meat cuts. Grill, broil or bake meats and poultry instead of frying. Avoid highly processed meats.

Dairy Products - Whole milk, cream, butter, and cheeses such as American cheddar, Swiss, cream, creamed cottage, cheese spreads, Gruyere, Edam, Limberger, Liederkranz, Parmesan, Roquefort, and Yogurt made from whole milk are all high in fats and should be eliminated from your diet.
Use fat-free or low-fat dairy products. Minimize your intake of butter and whole milk. Look for low-fat or fat-free cottage cheese, mozzarella, ricotta and other low-fat cheeses

Eggs - Egg yolks are exceptionally high in cholesterol and fat content. They are often used by medical investigators and researchers to produce atherosclerosis and "hardening of the arteries" in experimental animals.

Breads - Hot breads, pancakes, waffles, coffee cakes, muffins, buns, doughnuts, Danish pastry, sweet rolls all contain some appreciable amount of lard, butter, or egg yolk. Those especially interested in home baking can find recipes for these fat-free breads and pastries in low-fat cook books, if desired.

Desserts - All those made with butter, egg-yolks, or cream should not be consumed, such as pies, cakes, pastries, cookies, custards, eclairs, gingerbread, shortcake, and puddings. Notoriously high in fat and cholesterol are ice-cream, parfaits, and frozen creams.

Snacks/beverage with additional sugar - Cut back on foods with added sugar. Most snack foods and beverages are high in sugar. They are often low in vitamins and minerals. Foods with "empty" calories make you eat and drink more, so you easily gain weight. Avoiding these foods will help you control your weight.
Sodium - Choose foods with little or no sodium. A diet high in sodium can increase the risk of high blood pressure, leading to the risk of stroke, heart attack and heart disease. Minimize the use of salt by using herbs, spices, lemon juice or salt-free seasonings to add flavor to your food.
Others - Other Foods should be avoided including coconuts, fat contained in the usual salad dressings, gravies, and sauces which are all very fatty. Animal fats, such as lard and suet, should particularly be avoided in cooking.

Frying foods is a very unhealthy way to interfere with the normal digestion of foods and essential nutriments and vitamins. Frying should be completely eliminated in the preparation of foods, not only because of its high fat production, but also because the irritating character and effect on the digestive tract of the fried fats, and the destruction of vitamins and essential food stuffs in the food that is fried. Even vegetable fats are best not used. Despite of that, vegetable oils such as soya oil, corn seed oil, and cottonseed oils are exceptions.
The dictates of common sense and self-control of drinking alcohol is required particularly where our health is concerned, although there are no restrictions on its use, because it has no fat content.
Research found that a significant loss of weight was followed by an average 35 per cent reduction in the work the heart has to do. The low fat,low-cholesterol diet has been proved to be effective in reducing weight and promoting general good health.

Healthy Foods to Lower Cholesterol

The fast food industry has become the most profitable all over the world. The society today wants instant diets such as French fries, deep fried chicken wings and burgers. The list of unhealthy diets is quite long when we consider delicacies such as cakes, doughnuts and cookies. All these foodstuffs carry a lot of cholesterol.
If we decide to find out just how nutritious the fast foods are, it would shock us to realize that most of these diets are not balanced and contain minimal nutrients. They contain a lot of sugars, fats and carbohydrates.
In order to curb your cholesterol level, the journey begins with changing your diet. Just what foods are healthy to maintain an acceptable level of cholesterol within the body? Below is a list of what experts have recommended for people whose target is to enjoy healthy meals that lower body cholesterol.
Vegetables
This group is one of the most recommended as it contains absolutely no bad cholesterol and the vegetable oils that they contain is essential. Fresh vegetables such as kales, carrots, spinach, broccoli and asparagus are some of the many available options in the market. Cooking a meal that includes 2 or 3 of these is one of the way of ensuring your meals are healthy.
Fruits
Fruits are well known for their vitamin content and their role in keeping us healthy and free from diseases. Some fruits such as grapes have an antioxidant effect that prevents damage to cells caused by free radicals. Taking in as many different fruits as possible every day ensures that you not only maintain a healthy diet, but you don't miss out on the most essential nutrients needed for your body. Examples include salmon, tuna, mackerel, tilapia, sardines, crabs, lobsters, oysters and herring.

Ensuring that you eat fat trimmed meat and skinned poultry meat is one way to keep your cholesterol at a minimum. The key point here is to make sure that you eat meats moderately.
Nuts
It is true that most nuts are laden with fats. Unlike animal products, however, nuts contain linoleic and linolenic acids which are unsaturated fats. Experts confirm that nuts protect us from heart diseases. Nuts such as walnuts lower LDL within the body. Their Omega 3 fatty acid is believed to restrain HDL levels consequently, lower body cholesterol.
Legumes & Grains
Adding legumes and grains to your meals ensures that you receive essential amino acids which are the building blocks of our bodies. Legumes and grains have very little fats in them and so are highly recommended as healthy food that lower cholesterol. Examples include beans, lentils, brown rice, peanuts, and peas.

Five Healthy Snack for the Next Time You Have the Munchies

What makes a good snack?
Clearly, it should be yummy. And it should satisfy whatever craving you may have (if you want sweet, then endless bags of salty chips may make you feel sick, but they won't satisfy the craving for something sweet). It should be quick to prepare, and easy to carry with you to wherever you may want to eat it. It shouldn't be overly high in calories, or messy to eat. And it should have some nutritional value (protein, fiber, vitamins and minerals...)
Each of these snacks has 250 calories or less.
Something salty?
Black bean dip with tortilla chips and celery sticks. Low glycemic load, so it won't cause your blood sugar to spike after eating it.
Black bean dip recipe (serves 6):
- 1 can black beans (rinse thoroughly), 1/4 c cream cheese, 1/4 c shredded cheddar cheese; heat in microwave on high for 1 minutes, stir til creamy
- add 1/2 cup salsa, 1/2 cup chopped fresh cilantro, 2 tbsp chopped pickled jalapeno peppers
10 grams of fiber, 10 grams of protein, and only 7 grams of fat (which could be reduced if you choose to use fat-free cream cheese and low-fat tortilla chips).
Something sweet?
Banana date shake - Super-sweet, with the consistency of a milkshake, but the protein in it keeps the gylcemic load fairly low.
Banana date shake recipe (serves 2):
- 3 cups water, 1/4 cup almonds, 6 dates (pitted); blend in blender til smooth
- add 2 frozen bananas (peels removed); blend til smooth
8 grams of fiber, 6 grams of protein, and 9 grams of fat (including significant Omega 6 fatty acids).
Something crunchy?

7 grams of fiber, 7 grams of protein, and 12 grams of fat (low in saturated fat, high in Omega 6 fatty acids)
Something creamy?
Lemon yogurt with mixed berries and chopped almonds. Full of sweetness, and tartness, and flavor, and creamy, and crunchy. Protein keeps the glycemic load low.

Something else?
Sliced apple with peanut butter and chopped cashews. Sweet, tart, crisp, crunchy, smooth...
recipe (serves 1):
- 1 sliced apple, 2tbsp peanut butter, and 1tsp chopped cashews. Spread peanut butter on apple slices, and dip in cashews.
6 grams of fiber, 7 grams of protein, and 16 grams of fat (low in saturated fat, high in Omega 6 fatty acids)

Pour the yogurt in a shallow pan or on a plate and roll the pretzel rod in it. Place the yogurt covered pretzel rod on a freezer safe plate or in a container and freeze for about an hour.
"Acceptable" Snacks for Older Children and Teens
This age group is hard to please so the idea is to "hide" the healthiness of the snack. I understand that sounds a bit odd but it is simply done by not announcing the snack is healthy or sometimes implying that the snack is not healthy works just as well, a little reverse psychology you learn as a parent.
Smoothies - Are always a big hit with this age group. You will need fruit one or a couple of different kinds. Ice, plain or fruit flavored yogurt and a blender. Cut the fruit ( about a cup and a half worth) into small pieces put it in the blender, add 1 cup of ice, 1/4 cup of yogurt and blend.
Snack mixes - These are the best! You can put whatever you want in them. My favorite is made of popcorn, raisins, pretzel sticks, and assorted peanuts. Put all the chosen ingredients in to a large bowl with a lid and shake well to mix it all up. Then sit back and watch it all disappear!
Preparing healthy snack for children and teens does not have to be a difficult chore or a boring snack for them. Simply think of some healthy food items and see how well they work together. Before long you will be creating amazing, healthy fun snacks for your kids!

8 Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time

Here are 10 tasty and healthy snacks that are great for television downtime.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time #1: Popcorn
You are better off skipping it at the movie theater, but at home you can prepare it in a healthy way. Three cups of popcorn have just 93 calories and 1.5 grams of fat.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time #2: Pistachios
Pistachios are a great heart-healthy snack full of antioxidants, fiber, and good fats. A 1/2-cup serving only has 170 calories, with 6 grams of protein and 3 grams of fiber. However, that serving also has 14 grams of fat, so do not stuff yourself on them. They key here are the shells. Since they are difficult to open, more work is involved which will make you eat slower.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time #3: Red Grapes
OK, you had to have known that fruits and vegetables would be on this list. As much as people want to avoid them these days, there will never be a processed snack food that will even come close to matching the nutrition and health benefits of fruits and vegetables. At the top of the pile is red grapes. Full of anti-oxidants and vitamins, red grapes are natures answer to sweet candy.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time#4: Mini-pizzas
Forget the frozen food section on this one. Anyone with a toaster can make their own healthy version of frozen pizza. All you need is a whole wheat English muffin, tomato sauce and low-fat mozzarella cheese. The more vegetables and herbs you add to it, the healthier and tastier it will be.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time #5: Pita chips With Hummus
This is another snack you must make on your own if you want it healthy.  All you need is a large whole wheat pita. Cut the edge of the pita into chip-size pieces. and then cook them in the oven until crispy before serving with your favorite hummus or dip recipe. In general, when you rely on pre-packaged foods to do the work for you, the price you pay for it is your health.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time #6: Relish Tray
Pickled vegetables are extremely low in calories and a great alternative to snacking on high fat, high sugar processed foods. The reason fruits and vegetables accelerate weight loss is because they are water rich, which means you get a full, satisfied feeling without the calories.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time #7: Green Tea
You may not think this is technically a snack, but the health benefits of drinking just one cup of green tea a day can allow you to splurge a little more than usual and still keep your figure in tact. The reason this works is because this beverage has been known to actually stimulate and accelerate a persons metabolism. At the same time it fills you up, so you have a more satisfied, healthy feeling.

Healthy Snacks for TV Couch Time #8: Protein Bars
This is the closest thing you will get to eating a chocolate candy bar that is relatively healthy. The best reason these are great for snacking is because they are not trigger foods like crackers and potato chips, so you will not want want to eat a lot at once. Protein helps build lean muscle mass, which is essential if you plan on being sedentary until the spring.

Not that this needs to be said, but you can enjoy even more snack food if you can work some exercise into your TV watching. Sit-ups and push-ups, or even getting up and moving around during commercials, will at least keep you more active. You can even burn calories just stretching out your body. Anything is better than sitting for hours without moving. You do enough of that at night when you are asleep.

Just because you want to stay in and relax does not mean you have to eat poorly. Replace your junk food cabinet with the foods listed above and when it comes time for the snow to melt, you will find that you will not have to work so hard at looking your best in that swimsuit. The key here is making an attempt to lead a healthy lifestyle all year around.

Top 9 Healthy Foods That Accelerate a Healthy Weight Loss!

In today's world of highly advertised fad diets, it is very difficult for us to know which foods are actually healthy and which foods are not. This program says not to eat an apple, while this other program tells us it keeps the doctor away. Once and for all, we need to know which foods are nutritious so we can all jump off the weight loss roller coaster.

Before I get into the details, it is important to stress that weight loss without proper nutrition is not the road you want to take. No magic pill will ever give you the benefits of eating properly. Stop looking for short cuts and get serious about your health. It is the only way to live a lifestyle that is free of the threats of disease, poor health and obesity.

Healthy Foods Tip #1: Green Vegetables
Vegetables such as spinach and cabbage are very significant in maintaining a healthy body. They are rich in vitamins and minerals. How do they help accelerate weight loss? They are water-rich, which means you are actually filling yourself up with liquids instead of fatty calories.

Healthy Foods Tip #2: Fatty Fish
Did you read that right? Yes, it says fatty! Oily fish such as salmon, mackerel and sardines have omega-3 fats. Despite all the hoopla surrounding the fat-free weight loss craze, your body does in fact need good fat for optimal weight loss performance. Omega-3 fats also takes care of our heart. It prevents stroke and lowers bad cholesterol in our body.

Healthy Foods Tip #3: Green Tea
Anti-oxidants rid our bodies of free radials that can cause damage to our cells and slow the process of healthy weight loss. Green tea offers such a powerful supply of anti-oxidants and vitamins that it has been known to accelerate metabolism by drinking only one cup per day. Tomatoes, red grapes and blueberries are also beneficial for the same reasons, but on a smaller scale.

Healthy Foods Tip #4: Citrus fruits
Oranges, lemons, limes and other citrus fruits are all high in Vitamin C. That helps to prevents colds, asthma and arthritis. What happens when your body is functioning without illness? It performs better! When your body gets the right nutrition, it can perform its own miracles...like giving you more energy and burning off extra weight.

Healthy Foods Tip #5: Carrots
Have you ever heard someone say carrots were unhealthy? I guess they would be if you ate tons of them every day, just like anything else that is abused. The reality is that carrots are good source of Vitamin A and promotes better eyesight. It only takes a half cup worth to work like magic to accelerate healthy weight loss.

Healthy Foods Tip #6. Bananas
This fruit is so nutrition that even monkeys know it is good for them. It can help cure ulcers, diarrhea and stomach cramps because it is high in potassium. If you sweat a lot and need energy, grab a banana. Many athletes consume bananas for energy and alertness. Have you ever seen an overweight monkey or athlete?

Healthy Foods Tip #7: Soy
The soybean is as close to a magic weight loss pill as you will ever find. No, you can not pop them into your mouth and watch the pounds melt away, but when you add soy into your daily diet, you will be amazed to see how quickly your health and weight loss improve at the same time. Soy-based protein smoothies helped me to lose 70 pounds in 4 months 15 years ago. And yes, I still have the weight off!

Healthy Foods Tip #8 Apples
An apple a day keeps the doctor away. It has vitamin C and pectin that flushes out toxins in our body. Toxins are probably the number one reason why people can not lose weight quickly when they eat healthy foods. Apples only work to your advantage when they are eaten raw, so dipping them into caramel sauce or cooking them into a pie will not keep the doctor away.

Healthy Foods Tip #9. Water
It may not be food but it is the most important part of your daily diet. Your body can not function properly if it is dehydrated, and most people do not drink as much as they should. Water also makes you feel full without any calories. Many times people reach for a snack when all they really need is a glass of water.

Along with a daily diet of the foods listed above, you need discipline and a willingness to reach your healthy weight loss goals. Most people get discouraged with losing weight when they fail to grasp the concept of living a healthy lifestyle. Once you develop this mindset, eating healthy will be part of your daily routine...and battling weight gain will be a thing of the past.

Best Foods to Eat While You Are Pregnant

No matter how healthy your diet may be, you might have to change it a little while you are pregnant. Some foods you may want to eliminate altogether, while others, you will want to increase in your daily menu. In our modern research, we try to figure out more about health, food, and nutrition during pregnancy. In order to do this, we need to learn more about the very foods that we eat and how they affect our bodies.
For example, you might ask what impact vegetarian diets, red meats, strong cheeses, organic foods or others may have on how your baby grows during the nine months of pregnancy.
Foods You Want to Eat
During your first trimester, foods that have a lot of protein, are the best foods that you can choose to eat. By consuming more protein you will be giving your baby the main building block of all cells. Protein is especially critical, since your tiny unborn child develops their major organs in these 3 months.
Vegetarians
Any vegetarian diet should be filled with foods that contain protein for cellular growth and development. You may be surprised at the variety of vegetarian protein that is really available. Beans with rice very high in protein and come a colorful variety.
Meat Eaters
For non-vegetarians, turkey, beef, tuna, and finally chicken have a high level of protein per ounce ranked from most to least. If you are on a vegetarian diet, beans and rice are excellent protein sources when combined. If money is tight, two eggs or peanut butter are other options.
For a fast, handy snack, vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike, can have protein by grabbing a small handful of natural almonds with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Almonds are packed with vitamins and minerals that help you ensure that your baby gets exactly what nutrition it needs the most.
Organic Foods
Organic foods also need to be carefully selected, since they may be prone to have more natural residues. However, if they are grown locally, these foods may be better for your body since it is more used to the immediate environment. Be sure to check where and how they are grown, such as being a hybrid of two or more strains of foods.
Foods You Want to Avoid
There are certain types of fish and cheese, that may actually be bad to eat while pregnant. These are foods that you may want to check out, before heading to your favorite seafood restaurant or fixing yourself a sandwich. Check with your medical provider before munching on raw sushi, oyster, muscles, octopus, and similar raw fish.
Cheese
In addition, some strong cheeses may carry bacteria that could hurt your baby. Blue cheese, feta, wine cheese, Manchego sheep milk cheese, and others that have a potent aroma often require getting used to for adults, let alone a tiny fetus. You will most likely want to take these foods off your menu, at least while you are pregnant.
Sugar
Foods high in sugar take your body on an energy roller coaster, stressing both you and your unborn child. Pregnancy takes an enormous amount of energy already and may suffer by extreme energy swings. If you must have something sweet, try foods such as applesauce, grapes, or other raw fruit. Use spices to add flavor to fruit to make it have more taste. Do avoid honey as it has a bacteria that can hurt small children.
Healthy Food Makes A Long Term Difference
Through all stages of your life, eating the proper foods makes a difference to your overall health. But, during pregnancy it is absolutely critical to the normal growth of your baby. Making a list of the right and wrong foods to eat can help you and your baby stay on a nutritious track.
By making a careful selection for your menu, you help to ensure not just a safe nine months of pregnancy, but a safe start so your baby can grow those first teeth and strong legs to walk on.

A List of Good Healthy Foods to Eat Daily

It can sometimes be hard to find the right good healthy foods to eat daily. People are usually too busy at work or college to concentrate on eating healthy all the time. In a perfect world people would only eat non processed organic food and maintain a diet that is full of their daily need of vitamins and minerals. Unfortunately a busy schedule can spoil this.
The perfect amount of calories for a woman is around 2000 kcals and 2500 kcals for a man, per day. This needs to be calories full of fibre and all the other nutrition need to maintain a healthy body. The vast majority of people take extra vitamin supplements but if their diet was correct they would have no need for these extra vitamins. In this article I am going to show you a test diet plan that will help you identify good healthy foods to eat.
A List of Good Healthy Foods to Eat Daily
1st Meal
- A cereal that is high in fibre and low in sugar. Porridge would be the best option or weet-bix (wheat a bix). With this have just skimmed or semi skimmed milk - 200 Calories
- A Piece of fruit. A banana is the best fruit to have early in the morning. - 72 Calories
2nd Meal
- 30g of almond nuts (with the brown skin). This is about 1 full handful of almonds. - 160 Calories
- 1 scoop of protein mixed in water. Make sure it is just pure protein power not the ones with creatine or carbs mixed in. This supplement compliments the good healthy foods to eat daily perfectly. (about 20g of protein) - 130 Calories
3rd Meal
- 250g of grilled or oven cooked meat (steak or chicken is my favourite). 50g of broccoli, 30g of carrots, serving of lettuce. Add 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil to your lettuce. - 670 Calories
4th Meal
- A multigrain sandwich with meat of your choice. No processed meat they are not considered good healthy foods to eat. - 300 Calories
5th Meal
- 200g of grilled or oven cooked meat with 40g of vegetables of your choice. - 460 Calories
The first think you are going to be thinking here is "I am not trying to build muscle, why so much protein?". A common mistake for people is that their diet is full of poor quality carbs and doesnt contain enough good protein for a goo source. A diet with a moderate amount of protein will help to tone your muscles and maintain a healthy body weight so protein is definitely one of the good healthy foods to eat daily.
As you can see in this list of good healthy foods to eat daily most of the foods are most likely already eaten by you or your family on a daily basis so therefore it should not be too difficult to stick to such a diet and eat healthier. Use this diet plan as a guideline and chop and change any of the foods with other healthy options but be sure to stick to your calorie count.

Healthy Foods For Kids

Are you looking to sneak in some healthy foods for kids? While raw carrot slices with ranch dip or peanut butter-covered celery might appeal to adults, children will turn their noses up at such snacks. What can you do to make sure you're serving healthy foods for your kids?
First, children do not want to ingest anything that "doesn't look right." Even if you know they will love it, they will not take a nibble at anything that is the wrong color or consistency. Fruit ranks high as one of the healthiest snacks a kid can eat. But many other foods will fill their tummies without the calories, fat and sugar they do not need.
Try the following:
Baked potato or tortilla chips. Fried chips have half their calories in fat, while baked chips only have about 10 percent of their calories in fat. You can even opt to make your own chips at home for a very healthy snack.
Fruit bars. Fig Newtons and raisin biscuits provide potassium and fiber, while being low in fat. Once again, if you make your own fruit bar, you can control the ingredients or even substitute things like eggs for egg whites, or use apple sauce and honey, instead of sugar.
Frozen fruit bars. These healthy foods for kids have real fruit chunks in them. During a hot summer day, this frozen treat is both fat-free and delicious.
Fruit juice. Good old-fashioned juice, with no sugar added, is refreshing. You should only get juice that is 100 percent fruit. Otherwise, you might end up with a beverage with as many calories in it as a can of soda pop.
Fruit smoothies. A personal favorite, fruit smoothies are a nutritious, delectable snack. I like to throw orange juice, banana and blueberries into my Magic Bullet for my toddler. I also sometimes add yogurt to make for a filling drink.
The bottom line: healthy foods for kids cannot look healthy. Be creative, and grab some kid-oriented cookbooks, so your child can help you prepare his snacks. Being involved with the prep work makes a child feel satisfied with eating his very own concoction.
